Learning outcomes

After this course students:

  • can  analyze advantages and disadvantages of existing waste disposal methods
  • can calculate heat balance of waste-to-energy plant
  • can revise existing methods of energy-efficient processing of solid waste
  • can diagram waste incineration schemes for different type of combustion chambers

Competences obtained by students:

  • the ability to conduct an examination of a particular method of waste disposal;
  • can develop technological solutions to improve the existing methods of energy-efficient processing of industrial solid and household waste;
  • can introduce and implement modern “clean” technologies for waste disposal on the basis of the obtained theoretical knowledge and practical skills

Main Topics

  • Classification of methods for heat treatment of waste and their improvement
  • Incineration of unprepared waste in incinerators
  • Pyrolysis of waste that has been pre-treated and without it
  • Waste gasification and synthesis gas production technologies. The use of synthesis gas
  • Technologies to reduce harmful dust and gas emissions into the atmosphere
