Learning outcomes

After this course students:

  • have knowledge and practical skills in application of the classical and most up-to-date technologies of control and management of the environmental resourses and ecological technologies with special attention on the role of the biological factor
  • can explain management and realization of firm, scientific and applied bioremediation and restoration projects
  • can present an overview of important environmental biotechnologies involved in biotransformation of pollutants and generation of energy
  • can use theoretical and practical knowledge to conduct research methods of water purification and biodegradation of a wide range of contaminants

Competences obtained by students:

  • be able to use terminology and theoretical foundations of bioremediation, biodegradation and bioconversion of natural and xenobiotic compounds; phytoremediation; biotechnology for the protection of environment (bio-pesticides, bio-fertilizers and bio-plastics)
  • be able to use biological methods for treatment;
  • can argue and assess the possibility of using biological methods for treatment and disposal of waste;
  • can develop, execute, and present design and technical documentation for the purification by using biological methods
