Learning outcomes
After this course students:
- have knowledge and practical skills in application of the classical and most up-to-date technologies of control and management of the environmental resourses and ecological technologies with special attention on the role of the biological factor
- can explain management and realization of firm, scientific and applied bioremediation and restoration projects
- can present an overview of important environmental biotechnologies involved in biotransformation of pollutants and generation of energy
- can use theoretical and practical knowledge to conduct research methods of water purification and biodegradation of a wide range of contaminants
Competences obtained by students:
- be able to use terminology and theoretical foundations of bioremediation, biodegradation and bioconversion of natural and xenobiotic compounds; phytoremediation; biotechnology for the protection of environment (bio-pesticides, bio-fertilizers and bio-plastics)
- be able to use biological methods for treatment;
- can argue and assess the possibility of using biological methods for treatment and disposal of waste;
- can develop, execute, and present design and technical documentation for the purification by using biological methods
